Journeys in Faith (JIF) Small Group Study Program Continues

BEGINNING FALL of 2008: A NEW DIMENSION OF JIF

Over the last three years we have been expanding the small-group study program for our NPC family. The overall program is named Journeys in Faith (JIF) to emphasize the fact that we are all pilgrims on a journey in search of a greater understanding of our Christian faith and what is required of us as believers.

Last year we introduced the Upper Room’s “Companions In Christ” series as part of the JIF program. Five groups involving approximately twenty-five NPC members participated in the first two parts of this series, exploring the way and mind of Christ. These groups, if they choose, will continue this fall with subsequent parts of “Companions In Christ”, focusing on the heart, work and spirit of Christ.

In addition to the “ Companions In Christ ” program this fall, an alternative five-week, small-group program, “ Conversations In Christ ”, will be offered. “ Conversations In Christ ” will provide participants the opportunity to read and react to brief meditations by such writers as C. S. Lewis, theologians including Nouwen, Bonhoeffer, or other authors preferred by individual groups. The only requirement to participate in this program is a willingness to converse and a desire to grow in faith. By His grace NPC is blessed with a great number of such persons.
