2006 Dominican Republic Trip

The relationship between Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church and the church of Brisas del Este in the Dominican Republic grows stronger every year. The bond that has been built can be seen in the people of the DR and our teams working so comfortably together as well as the tears that are shed when our team leaves. It takes a long time to see if any progress is actually being made when starting a new mission project. This community had only been worshipping for about a year when Newlonsburg became involved. Men didn’t attend the church services, and there were only about five women attending with their children. Now, there are men in church and more women attending.

WEDDING
This is significant because prior to spiritual guidance, marriage really had no relevance in the community. It was expensive and seemed unimportant. Since the community has been studying the Bible and worshipping on a regular basis, they are taking note of how the Lord wants us to live.

FOOD AND FELLOWSHIP
Another successful men’s fellowship dinner was held with about 50 men in attendance. We had another food distribution funded by a private donation as well as our hunger offering. We were able to provide 95 families with a two-week supply of food. (click here for more)
